...The National Weather Service in Tallahassee FL has issued a Flood 

Warning for the following rivers in Alabama...



  Pea River near Ariton (US 231) affecting Dale and Coffee Counties.



For the Pea River...including Ariton (US 231), Elba (US 84)...

Moderate flooding is forecast.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 

cars through flooded areas.



Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING TO EARLY MONDAY 

MORNING...



* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.



* WHERE...Pea River near Ariton (US 231).



* WHEN...From Thursday morning to early Monday morning.



* IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, The basement of a home on U.S. Highway 231 

  and the Pea River will be flooded.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 8:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 4.1 feet.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage

    late tomorrow morning to a crest of 17.9 feet early Friday

    afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday

    afternoon.

  - Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of

    17.9 feet on 03/04/1972.
