...The National Weather Service in Tallahassee FL has issued a Flood 

Warning for the following rivers in Florida...



  Shoal River near Mossy Head (CR 1087) affecting Walton County.



For the Shoal River...including Mossy Head (CR 1087)...Moderate 

flooding is forecast.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 

cars through flooded areas.



Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet 

and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, 

or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, 

stop, turn around and go another way.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT TO FRIDAY EVENING...



* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.



* WHERE...Shoal River near Mossy Head (CR 1087).



* WHEN...From late tonight to Friday evening.



* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Flood waters cross Plantation Lane in 

  several places isolating many residences. Hinote Road is flooded 

  more than one half mile south of the bridge, restricting access to 

  flooded residences on Dallas Drive.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 8.0 feet.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage

    late tonight to a crest of 18.2 feet early tomorrow

    afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Friday

    morning.

  - Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of

    18.0 feet on 12/26/1973.
