Within the base of a large-scale trough over the West, a belt of strong midlevel west-southwesterly flow will cross the southern/central Rockies. In response, a lee cyclone will deepen over the central High Plains, promoting breezy/gusty south-southwesterly surface winds across the southern and central High Plains.
