Limited sunshine today, but still warm with more S/SW wind at 5-15 mph and a few higher gusts. An upper level area of low pressure is crossing Baja Mexico this morning and will be pumping loads of mid and high clouds off the Pacific over our Four-State area through midweek. The low is strong now, but will continue to weaken over Mexico today and also over Texas on Wednesday. The low will open up into a weaker wave of energy with little in the way of rainfall, generally less than a tenth of inch if any. At the same time a cold front will slowly drop across the plains and MS River Valley during Wednesday. The brisk SW winds this afternoon will swing to NW early on Wednesday and shift around to NE by lunch time and decrease overnight, before shifting back to SE early on Thursday and SW again for Friday. Then a stronger secondary upper low in the pattern will be arriving this weekend, and unlike the midweek weakening system, this next core low will bring focus to the SW aloft with a good soaking of rainfall overnight Friday across our north along the warm front. Then ahead of the next cold front late Saturday, numerous showers and thunderstorms will traverse across our region. We are still looking for 1 to 2 inches widespread, with some higher totals possible to near 3 inches across our north where rain will fall longer. Then the winds shift back to NW with a drier pattern min RH for early next week. We will cool back down a bit and warm again above average with only a little more rainfall. The CPC 8 to 14 day outlook is looking at very warm conditions with near average rainfall amounts to end the month.
