Warmer temperatures and RH values around 40% raise concerns over forested areas in parts of northwest MN for near critical fire weather conditions (Lake of the Woods, Beltrami, Hubbard). Breezy conditions develop Sunday and those areas may see occasional gusts to 25 mph. Much windier conditions are expected Monday and Tuesday, as a cold front moves through the region. RH values could vary wildly based on cloud cover and heating ahead of the front and how warm it gets behind the front, however values 30 to 45% may occur with breezy to windy conditions and there is potential for critical fire weather conditions to develop during the afternoon/early evening periods. The next best chance for rain and thunderstorms would be ahead of and with the front late Sunday evening through Monday, and a few strong to severe thunderstorms could develop. Strong damaging winds would be a primary threat with larger thunderstorm complexes if they develop Sunday evening. There would be concerns for lightning starts with thunderstorm activity in forested areas where fuels have been a concern.
