Tonight, a cool front will settle south out of South Dakota and north to northeasterly winds expected to develop behind this feature. Timing of arrival into our western zones ranges from 7pm to 9pm CDT. This boundary will then stall in vicinity of an Oshkosh to Butte line. Sustained northeast then easterly winds to the north of this feature will lead to increasing late night gusts once again for the Sandhills into the Panhandle. Though humidity fall off this evening will be slow, the quicker decrease of wind gusts supports maintaining the 6pm MDT end to the ongoing Red Flag Warning. Humidity recovery tonight will be moderate at best with 60 to 70 percent north of this frontal boundary and 70 to 90 percent to the south. Fire weather concerns will be on the decrease this weekend, though persistent gusty winds appear likely each day. High temperatures will only reach the 60s and 70s each day Saturday and Sunday, culminating in values 10-20F below normal on Sunday. This will keep humidity above critical levels for much of the region. Temperatures moderate early next week with a return to well above normal levels by the middle of next week. Confidence in precise temperatures for Wednesday and beyond remain low but overall thinking is values in the middle to upper 80s or warmer appear likely. Precipitation will be greatly limited through the forecast period, with low-end chances Saturday morning, Saturday evening, and Tuesday evening for portions of the area.
