####018019162#### FNUS53 KLBF 131959 FWFLBF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and North Central for Nebraska National Weather Service North Platte NE 159 PM CST Fri Feb 13 2026 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT SUNDAY AFTERNOON... .DISCUSSION... A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Sunday afternoon across the Panhandle, Sandhills, and southwest Nebraska. Highs on Sunday are expected to be 20 to 30 degrees above seasonal average, which will challenge, and potentially break, daily high temperature records. These well above average temperatures will allow for low relative humidity across most of the region, with most of western and north central Nebraska dropping below 20 percent humidity in the afternoon. Southwest winds gusting 25 to 30 mph are expected across western and southwestern Nebraska, prompting the issuance of the watch. Humidity recover is expected to be poor across western Nebraska on Sunday night, generally only up to 50 t0 60 percent. While humidity values on Monday are expected to drop below 25 percent across most of the region, again with above average temperatures, winds are expected to be lighter, generally reducing the greater fire weather concern on Monday. Near critical to critical fire weather concerns are again possible on Tuesday and Wednesday across the region. However, much of this concern will be largely dependent on the track of a low pressure system Tuesday afternoon. Current guidance favors a more northerly track, which would bring gusty winds and low humidity across portions of the region, but this track also introduces chances for precipitation, which may keep the fire weather threat more localized. However, if the southern track occurs, even stronger winds and lower humidity values are expected, which would increase the fire weather concerns Tuesday afternoon. Concerns on Wednesday will largely be driven by how the system evolves on Tuesday. At this time, uncertainty remains in the track of the low, but should increase with follow on forecasts. As for late week, chances of precipitation and more seasonal temperatures are expected. However, as with the mid week systems, uncertainty remains in the track and timing of the low. However, confidence is increasing in a return to seasonal temperatures by the end of the week.
