Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... A low pressure system over Ohio will track northeastward and pass Toronto Friday morning, deepening to around 28.9 inches. Northwesterly gales are anticipated to develop over the open waters late during the pre-dawn hours on Friday. A Gale Warning has been issued for all of the open waters of Lake Michigan for northwest gales to around 40 kts and high waves. The strongest winds and waves will be towards the east side of the lake given the fetch, as well as over the northern third of the lake. Winds will then gradually weaken later Friday night into the weekend as the low tracks northeast into Quebec. A small ridge of high pressure will traverse Lake Michigan on Saturday, allowing gentle winds (around 15 kts) to back from northwesterly to southerly. A weak low pressure around 29.6 inches will then cross the lake Sunday morning, veering winds to the north (roughly 15 kts or less) Sunday afternoon.
