####018006177#### FZUS63 KMKX 230806 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 306 AM CDT Sat Mar 23 2024 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... Currently centered over central Canada, a 30.4 inch high pressure center will move east toward the Hudson Bay today allowing light and variable surface flow to turn out of the southeast. A 28.9 inch low pressure center will form over the central Great Plains on Sunday, approaching the Upper Mississippi Valley during the day on Monday. Responding to falling surface pressures regionally, southeast winds will increase by Monday afternoon. Gusty winds will continue on Tuesday as the aforementioned low pressure center progresses north across Lake Superior and drags a cold front across the open waters, resulting in a west-southwest wind shift. Periods of gale force gusts are possible Monday and Tuesday, though confidence in coverage/duration of any such gusts is too low to justify the issuance of Gale Watches at this time. Will monitor trends over the coming forecasts, and make any necessary adjustments to headlines should confidence in gale force gusts increase.
