####018004884#### WTUS82 KFFC 060312 HLSFFC GAZ086-098-110>113-061115- Tropical Storm Debby Local Statement Advisory Number 15 National Weather Service Peachtree City GA AL042024 1112 PM EDT Mon Aug 5 2024 This product covers NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA **Debby Bringing Flooding and Flash Flooding to Portions of East Central Georgia Through Tomorrow** NEW INFORMATION --------------- * CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - The Tropical Storm Warning has been cancelled for Dodge, Laurens, and Wilcox * CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Emanuel, Montgomery, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, and Wheeler * STORM INFORMATION: - About 120 miles east-southeast of Cordele GA or about 80 miles south-southeast of Vidalia GA - 31.1N 82.1W - Storm Intensity 45 mph - Movement Northeast or 50 degrees at 7 mph SITUATION OVERVIEW ------------------ OVERVIEW... Debby will exit Georgia into the Atlantic overnight as it continues to slowly move to the east-northeast. Flooding and flash flooding impacts are already ongoing across portions of east-central Georgia. Rain amounts of 3-5 inches have already fallen across portions of Toombs, Montogomery, and Wheeler counties. Additional forecast precipitation amounts through Wednesday morning are 3 to 6 inches south and east of a line from Abbeville to Dublin to Louisville. Some locations may see as much as 10 inches of rainfall from today through tomorrow night. Rainfall of these amounts will lead to widespread, significant flash flooding and Moderate to Major flooding of creeks and rivers. A Tropical Storm warning is in effect for east central Georgia for tropical storm force winds that are ongoing. The strongest winds are expected from Crisp to Toombs county. Wind gusts of near tropical storm force have already been recorded in this area, and will continue as Debby passes to the south through tonight. Tropical Storm force winds are expected to wind down through Tuesday morning as Debby moves to the east and continues to weaken. POTENTIAL IMPACTS ----------------- * FLOODING RAIN: Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across east central Georgia. Remain well guarded against life-threatening flood waters having devastating impacts. If realized, these impacts include: - Extreme rainfall flooding may prompt numerous evacuations and rescues. - Rivers and tributaries may overwhelmingly overflow their banks in many places with deep moving water. Small streams, creeks, canals, arroyos, and ditches may become raging rivers. In mountain areas, deadly runoff may rage down valleys while increasing susceptibility to rockslides and mudslides. Flood control systems and barriers may become stressed. - Flood waters can enter numerous structures within multiple communities, some structures becoming uninhabitable or washed away. Numerous places where flood waters may cover escape routes. Streets and parking lots become rivers of raging water with underpasses submerged. Driving conditions become very dangerous. Numerous road and bridge closures with some weakened or washed out. Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across east central Georgia. Remain well guarded against life-threatening flood waters having limited to extensive impacts. Elsewhere across NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA, little to no impact is anticipated. * WIND: Little to no additional impacts are anticipated at this time across NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA.
