ANALYSIS CONFIDENCE...Moderate to high.



SYNOPSIS...Low pressure will move east across the central Bering Sea 

and Chukchi Sea through Thursday, then high pressure builds over the 

North Pacific and Bering Sea through Monday.



The main ice edge extends from near Egegik to 57 27’N 158 44’W to 57 

42’N 163 18’W to 57N 164 25’W to 57 48’N 171 34’W to 60 30’N 178 

32’W and continues in Russian waters. The ice edge is open water.



From land-based points in Alaska, the main ice edge extends from 

near Egegik to 35 nm west of Pilot Point to 65 nm southwest of Cape 

Newenham to 130 nm southwest of Cape Newenham to 65 nm northwest of 

Saint Paul to 270 nm southwest of Gambell and continues in Russian 

waters. The ice edge is open water.

to 50 nm through Monday.

FORECAST FOR COOK INLET (DAYS 1 through 5)...Forecast confidence is 

high. Southwest winds will bring sea ice toward the west coast of 

Alaska through Thursday, then northwest and west winds behind the 

low will return and the ice pack will move to the east 40 to 50 nm 

through Monday.
