Ice coverage across the Great Lakes region remains well below average with with about 5.8% total coverage across the lakes. Areas with notable ice coverage include Chequamegon Bay and the edges of Whitefish Bay in Lake Superior. The Bays de Noc and the edges of Green Bay in western Lake Michigan, northern Lake Michigan into the Straits of Mackinac. Also the far northwest portion of Lake Huron, and the St. Mary's river and northern Lake Huron along with Saginaw Bay. Lake St. Clair has minor ice coverage on its northern edges. Lake Erie has minor coverage of ice with coverage on the western end of Lake Erie from Toledo Harbor up through the Detroit River, and over Sandusky Bay. Temperatures will continue to be well above seasonal averages through the week. The only potential for some minor nearshore ice to develop would be across Lake Superior in the wake of a cold front Friday into Saturday. Otherwise any of the ice that has developed is expected to deteriorate and decrease in coverage through the week across the remainder of the Great Lakes.
