...A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 PM HST...

Kauai Windward Waters...



At 850 PM HST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts

was located near FAD Buoy WK, or 12 nm east of Hanamaulu, moving 

northeast at 15 knots. Other strong to severe thunderstorms were 

located in a line from just east of Niihau to 15 miles southwest of 

Niihau.



HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 65 knots, and large 

         destructive hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

         hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural 

         damage in high winds and hail. Small craft could capsize in 

         suddenly higher waves.



Locations impacted include...

Nawiliwili Harbor, FAD Buoy CK, FAD Buoy DK, FAD Buoy EK, Kilauea

Lighthouse, Southern Tip of Niihau, Kikiaola Harbor, and Hanalei Bay.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding

downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are

wearing life jackets.



Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the

open water, stay below deck if possible.
