For the following areas...

Maui County Windward Waters...



At 638 AM HST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts

was located 11 nm northwest of FAD Buoy N, or 18 nm north of Halawa

Valley, moving northwest at 10 knots.



HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

         hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

         higher winds and suddenly higher waves.



Locations impacted include...

Kahului Harbor, FAD Buoy O, FAD Buoy N, FAD Buoy HO, FAD Buoy Q, Cape

Halawa, FAD Buoy DD, and FAD Buoy FF.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding

downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are

wearing life jackets.



Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily

overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor

immediately.
