Through 1100 PM, isolated showers will spread to the northeast at 10 knots through the Straits of Florida. These showers will be capable of brief periods of reduced visibility within small, slow moving pockets of light to moderate rain. So far, radar trends suggest these showers in the Straits are struggling to gain latitude. And yet, over the distant Straits, about 20 NM from the Cuban coast, a potent thunderstorm is moving slowly northeast at 5 to 10 knots. This storm will be capable of bouts of frequent lightning, blinding downpours, and localized wind gusts near 30 knots. $$ CLR
