...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKST FRIDAY...



* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero. Winds 

  gusting between 40 to 60 mph through Friday afternoon.



* WHERE...Thompson Pass.



* WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Friday.



* IMPACTS...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero 

  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. 

  Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these 

  temperatures.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures around -10F are 

  expected through Friday morning. Windy conditions will make it 

  feel much colder than the ambient air temperature, with wind 

  chills dropping to as low as -40F.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Use caution while outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and 

gloves. Be sure to have an emergency kit in your car and appropriate 

cold weather clothing and blankets in case your car breaks down.
