.DISCUSSION...



High pressure over the forecast area will exit across Minnesota 

today. The result will be winds shifting out of the south or 

southeast and increasing to 20 to 25 mph with gusts nearing 35 mph 

in and west of the Missouri River valley later this afternoon into 

this evening. Relative humidity values will fall into the 25 to 35 

percent range this afternoon.



Mainly dry weather will continue through much of Thursday, along 

with rather strong southerly winds sustained around 30 mph. Wind 

gusts could reach 40 to 45 mph. Then, an area of low pressure 

working into the region will bring periods of rain to the entire 

area Thursday night through Saturday morning.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...



Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses,

and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is

some potential for a fire to spread.  Any outdoor burning should be

closely monitored.





The outlook for Thursday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index

will reach the moderate category.

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,

and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the

probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under

these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety

precautions, but should be monitored.





The outlook for Thursday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index

will reach the low to moderate category.
