...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS WESTERN MINNESOTA

SATURDAY AFTERNOON...



.Southeasterly winds will steadily increase through this

afternoon, becoming sustained at 25-30 mph with gusts up to 40-

45 mph. Relative humidity will also drop to around 20-30 percent

during this time frame, with a lack of precipitation over the

past week also allowing for fuels to be dry.

The National Weather Service in Twin Cities/Chanhassen has issued

a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect until 7 PM CDT this

evening. 



* AFFECTED AREA...West central, southwest, and portions of south 

  central Minnesota. 



* WIND...Southeast from 25 to 30 mph, gusting 40 to 45 mph.



* HUMIDITY...20 to 30 percent.



* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 

  Outdoor burning is not recommended.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions

are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of

strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can

contribute to extreme fire behavior.
