Winds have been generally on the light side, but vary at least a bit with winds out of the west/southwest over most of the state, while southern Iowa sees northwest winds. Skies were largely clear, outside of some clouds passing across the far south. Radar returns this morning are showing rain, though this does not look to be reaching the ground, and is not expected to do so. Frost/Freeze headlines remain across the state as temperatures sit in the low 30s north and in to the upper 30s south, though as warming occurs later this morning, these headlines will drop off for the day. Generally quiet conditions are expected today, with partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures warming into the upper 40s to low 50s north and in the upper 50s across the rest of the state. Winds are expected to turn more northwesterly across Iowa as a front passes though, turning quite breezy, especially over northern Iowa later this morning through the afternoon with gusts upwards of 35-40 mph. Tonight and beyond: Winds relax into the evening, though temperatures falling near to just below freezing across the state will likely allow for additional frost/freeze headlines into Saturday morning. Continued dry weather is expected through the weekend, with temperatures gradually warming into the upper 50s to low 60s by Sunday. Before that though, can expect one more chilly night with more expected frost/freezing conditions Saturday night into Sunday morning. Expect slightly breezy conditions this weekend with partly cloudy skies Saturday and clearing skies Sunday. Changes arrive into the start of the work week as the chance for showers and storms returns, along with continued warming through the 60s. $$
