Today: 



A fairly quiet morning with generally warmer conditions compared to 

this time yesterday, as southwest winds remain over the region, with 

temperatures as of 3am in the 30s to low 40s. An area of high clouds 

can be seen on satellite streaming across central Iowa, with 

additional clouds further west beginning to make their way into the 

state.



Cloud cover will continue to increase through this morning as a 

system currently positioned over the Dakotas makes its way across 

Iowa later this morning, bringing the chance for occasional scattered 

rain showers today, along with some thunder at times. Temperatures 

will be on the warmer side today as southwest winds become quite 

gusty, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. A Wind Advisory is in 

effect from 11 am to 5 pm for sustained winds around 25 to 30 mph and

gusts upwards of 45 mph across much of Iowa.



Tonight and beyond: 



Scattered rain showers remain possible tonight and through at least

Tuesday afternoon. Lows are expected to fall into the 40s to low 50s,

which is much warmer than has been the case recently. Winds are also 

expected to decrease, shifting more westerly.



Outside of the aforementioned lingering rain chances Tuesday, winds

will increase across Iowa out of the northwest, with gusts upwards of

30 to 35 mph expected. Dry conditions return into Wednesday, with 

temperatures just a tad cooler in the upper 50s to mid 60s. A more wet

and active pattern continues to look likely by late work week and 

through the weekend, with periods of showers and thunderstorms, some 

which may be strong to severe on Friday into the weekend. Locally 

heavy rainfall with this activity is also looking possible. Details 

still remain unclear given this is several days ahead at this point, 

but close monitoring will continue. Temperatures are expected to warm 

back through the 70s into the weekend.
