An area of moderate snow will expand across Kansas today and tonight with embedded heavier bands containing 1"/hr snowfall rates. This snowfall has a high (70-90%) chance of producing more than 4 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts exceeding 8 inches possible (10-20% chance) in the heavier snow bands. Locally heavy snow combined with gusty winds will cause hazardous travel due to snow covered roads and reduced visibility from central Kansas through northern Missouri. Some light icing could also cause slippery roads across northern Oklahoma, especially on bridges and overpasses. Thanksgiving weekend travelers should exercise caution and plan ahead before driving through affected areas. The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction Center at 800 PM MST. Please refer to your local National Weather Service office for additional information on this event. Dolan $$
