Additional snowfall totals of 2 to 10 inches expected with locally higher amounts possible. The system is forecast to intensify while tracking northeast across the Central Plains to the Upper Midwest through midweek. A large swath of moderate to very heavy snow, significant freezing rain, and sleet is expected across the Plains through Tuesday and across the Upper Midwest through Wednesday. Intense snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour are likely from parts of Nebraska and South Dakota into Minnesota with more than 12 inches of snow forecast for this region. Gusty winds accompanying the system will result in blowing snow, causing snow covered roads, reduced visibility, and dangerous travel. Localized significant ice accumulations exceeding 0.25 inches are likely from portions of eastern Nebraska through southern Minnesota, which could damage trees and power lines. The storm system will linger over the Upper Midwest while weakening late in the work week, then push towards the Northeast this weekend. The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction Center at 800 AM MST. Please refer to your local National Weather Service office for additional information on this event. Dolan $$
