####018015189#### ACUS43 KWBC 021440 SCCNS3 Storm Summary Number 4 for Southern Plains to Mid-South Ice Storm NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 900 AM CST Thu Feb 02 2023 ...Widespread Sleet and Freezing Rain continue across the Southern Plains and Mid-South... Ice Storm Warnings are in effect for parts of north Texas, southeastern Oklahoma, northern Mississippi, western Tennessee, and much of Arkansas. Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for north-central Texas and southern Oklahoma. A large swath of Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from eastern New Mexico to western Tennessee. For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings and advisories, please see www.weather.gov At 800 AM CST...A nearly stationary front was oriented north-northeastward stretching from regions of the northwestern Gulf of Mexico to regions of southeastern Georgia. There are several low pressure centers along this boundary, notably over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico as well as over southeastern Georgia. The slow moving nature of the front has resulted in a prolonged period of precipitation focused on the northern side of the front, especially over the southern Plains and Mid-South. High pressure has been gradually pushing colder surface air to the south, which has resulted in widespread sleet and freezing rain across the southern Plains and Mid-South. Radar and surface observations show widespread moderate to heavy precipitation stretching from western Texas through the Mid-Atlantic, much of which is freezing rain in north-central Texas, southern Oklahoma, portions of Arkansas. ...Selected preliminary Storm Total Sleet in inches from 600 AM CST Mon Jan 30 through 800 AM CST Thu Feb 02... ...ALABAMA... Additional ice accumulations of up to 0.1" will be possible in parts of the southern Plains and Mid-South through today. Accumulating ice on roadways will cause treacherous travel conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses. Prolonged power outages and tree damage are likely.
