The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Kauai Channel...

  Kauai Leeward Waters...

  Kauai Northwest Waters...

  Kauai Windward Waters...

  Oahu Windward Waters...



* Until 515 AM HST.



* At 318 AM HST, aa large cluster of strong thunderstorms was 

  located up to 20 nm south of Kauai, moving northeast at 25 kt. 

  Other areas of heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms were located 

  15 to 40 nm southwest, and 20 to 30 nm northeast of Kauai.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots and small hail.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Nawiliwili Harbor, FAD Buoy CK, FAD Buoy DK, FAD Buoy EK, Kilauea

  Lighthouse, Southern Tip of Niihau, Kikiaola Harbor, and Hanalei

  Bay.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding

downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are

wearing life jackets.



Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily

overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor

immediately.



Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the

open water, stay below deck if possible.
