The National Weather Service in OXNARD has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Much of the coastal waters from Point Sal to San Mateo Point



* Until 645 PM PDT.



* At 439 PM PDT, clusters of strong thunderstorms with an increasing threat of

  waterspouts were being observed across much of the coastal waters from

  near Point Sal to Catalina Island. The strong storm activity is expected

  to continue shifting eastward towards the Orange County border during

  the next couple of hours. Storm activity is moving northeast at around

  15 knots. 



  HAZARD...Increasing threat of Waterspouts, wind gusts to near 50 knots,  

           hail up to dime size, and cloud to ocean lightning. 



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could 

           result in structural damage.

Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the

open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded

metal objects.
