...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN BRUNSWICK AND SOUTH

CENTRAL COLUMBUS COUNTIES THROUGH 715 PM EDT...



At 646 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over

Exum, or 11 miles northwest of Shallotte, moving southeast at 20 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Shallotte, Freeland, Russtown, Pireway, Grissettown, Ash, Dulah,

Bughill, Longwood, Brunswick County Community College Main Campus,

and Brunswick Novant Medical Center.



This includes US Route 17 in Brunswick County between mile markers 5

and 20, and between mile markers 23 and 24.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for

southeastern North Carolina.
