DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Tammy was located near latitude 19.9 North, longitude 63.4 West. Tammy is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). A turn toward the north is expected late tonight, followed by a north-northeast or northeast motion on Monday and Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible during the next few days. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 988 mb (29.18 inches). SURF: Swells generated by Tammy will continue to affect portions of the Lesser Antilles during the next few days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
