GALE WARNING FOR NORTHERN AREA SITUATION At 1200 UTC a Tropical Low was centred within 15 nautical miles of latitude thirteen decimal five south (13.5S) longitude one hundred and thirty seven decimal two east (137.2E) Recent movement : south southeast at 6 knots Maximum winds : 40 knots Central pressure: 993 hPa The low is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 18 to 24 hours. AREA AFFECTED Within 100 nautical miles in NE quadrant and within 80 nautical miles in NW quadrant. extending to within 70 nautical miles in the SW and SE quadrants from 0600 UTC 16 March. FORECAST Maximum winds to 40 knots near the centre increasing to 45 knots by 1200 UTC 16 March.
