HURRICANE FORCE WIND WARNING FOR NORTHERN AREA

SITUATION
At 1800 UTC Tropical Cyclone Megan was centred within 15 nautical miles of
 latitude fourteen decimal three south (14.3S)
 longitude one hundred and thirty seven decimal five east (137.5E)
Recent movement : slow moving
Maximum winds   : 55 knots
Central pressure: 981 hPa

AREA AFFECTED
Within 90 nautical miles in NE quadrant
  and within 60 nautical miles in SE quadrant
  and within 60 nautical miles in SW quadrant
  and within 80 nautical miles in NW quadrant.

FORECAST
Maximum winds to 55 knots near the centre increasing to 70 knots by 1800 UTC 17
March.

Winds above 64 knots within 20 nautical miles of centre by 1200 UTC 17 March
with high to very high seas.

Winds above 48 knots within 50 nautical miles in NE quadrant
  and within 30 nautical miles in SE quadrant
  and within 30 nautical miles in SW quadrant
