The following information is based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... None. ...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS... NEAR EQUATORIAL TROUGH... A near-equatorial trough is well south of the Republic of Palau. It runs from 1N130E to EQ145E with patchy showers mainly along and south of the Equator. TRADE-WIND TROUGHS... A sharp trade-wind trough is causing showers and a few thunderstorms near and south of Pohnpei and Kosrae, south of 7N from 155E to 165E. The trough curves northeastward from EQ152E to 7N159E. A weaker trade-wind trough north of Yap extends from 11N130E to 15N145E. Only isolated showers are seen along this trough. TRADE WIND CONVERGENCE ZONE... Converging trade winds are triggering scattered showers and a few thunderstorms southeast of majuro or east of a line from 6N174E to 2N173E to beyond the Date Line. SHEAR LINE... A weak shear line between the Mariana Islands and Wake Island runs eastward from just east of Saipan at 15N148E to southeast of Wake at 16N170E. Patchy clouds and isolated showers are seen along and just north of this line. ...DISCUSSION... The near-equatorial trough is not strong, and is not expected to change much in the coming days. The sharp trade-wind trough affecting Pohnpei and Kosrae is centered near 5N155E. It is slow moving and will be closely monitored in the coming days for any further developments. The trade-wind trough north of Yap will remain weak and move slowly westward. The convergence zone over far Eastern Micronesia is expected to spread a few showers toward the west and northwest and across the southern Marshall Islands during the next few days. The shear line east of Saipan will likely drift farther west and trigger isolated showers over the northern Mariana Islands during the next couple of days. Otherwise, to our north, a high pressure ridge remains stretched east to west along and just north of 25N. $$ Simpson
