####018001737#### ABPZ30 KNHC 011446 TWSEP Monthly Tropical Weather Summary NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 800 AM PDT Sat Jul 1 2023 For the eastern North Pacific, east of 140 degrees west longitude: Two tropical cyclones, Hurricanes Adrian and Beatriz, formed in the basin in the month of June. Beatriz became a hurricane on the last day of the month and is still currently affecting portions of the southwestern coast of Mexico. The formation of two named storms matches the long-term average for June, although the formation of two hurricanes is slightly above the average of one hurricane typically forming during the month. The number of named storms in the basin so far in 2022 (2) is near the long-term average (2.5) through June. However, the season had a late start, with Adrian marking the second-latest formation of the first named storm of the season during the reliable period of records (1971-2023). In terms of Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE), which measures the combined strength and duration of tropical storms and hurricanes, 2023 is running a little below the long-term (1991-2020) average.
