Expires:202405050915;;638556 FZUS63 KMKX 050143 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 843 PM CDT Sat May 4 2024 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... Warm, moist air over the cooler lake waters will continue to produce areas of dense marine fog into late tonight before a cold frontal passage. Low pressure around 29.8 inches over central Ontario will drag a cold front across the lake tonight and shift winds from the east- southeasterly to northwesterly. Thunderstorms with some gusty winds continue to be possible along the front, with precipitation exiting by Sunday morning as high pressure around 30.1 inches begins to build into the western Great Lakes region. Expect lighter, more variable winds for Sunday into Monday as high pressure works its way across the region. Winds then shift to east-southeast Monday afternoon and evening as low pressure develops and deepens over the northern Plains. Winds will pivot between southeasterly and southwesterly through midweek, prior to turning out of the north and northwest on Thursday and Friday as another area of low pressure moves east of the open waters. Periods of showers and thunderstorms are forecast from early to mid week, with conditions drying out by the end of the week and beginning of next weekend.
