Winds of 55 kts or even stronger will spread from Cape Suckling south down the coast, reaching the Dixon Entrance late Wednesday evening. Gale force winds of 35 to 45 kts will develop over the southern inner channels and Cross Sound Wednesday afternoon and persist through most of Wednesday night before diminishing. Periods of gales are possible through the central inner channels as well Wednesday night. Building seas over the eastern Gulf in advance of this front are expected to peak at 30 to 40 feet Wednesday evening with the highest seas north of Cape Fairweather. Seas near the ocean entrances of the inner channels will build to as much as 10 to 12 ft by Wednesday evening. This will be the first significant storm of the Autumn/Winter season and Mariners are advised to take appropriate care and precautions.
