Showers and lightning storms will increase in intensity and coverage through the remainder of the afternoon and early evening. The greatest chance for storms will be through 8 PM. Some of the storms are expected to become strong again, producing wind gusts up to 40 to 50 mph and frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. Of increasing concern is the threat for local flooding from heavy downpours. Amounts of 1 to 3 inches are forecast in as little as a 60 to 90 minute period with locally higher amounts. Flooding of roads on low lying property is likely, especially in urban and other poorly drained locations. Early to mid afternoon storms are focusing across the Treasure Coast and dumping heavy rainfall where flood advisories are currently present. Move indoors if skies look threatening, or if you hear thunder. Never attempt to drive through a water covered roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your vehicle to make it safely across. $$ TES
