...River Statement For The Tallapoosa River...

.Heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours is producing rises on the 
Tallapoosa River. However, levels are expected to remain below 
established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be 
of minor nature.


The Tallapoosa River at Wadley.
* At 3:00 PM CST Tuesday the stage was 13.5 feet.
* Action stage is 13.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.9 feet 
  this evening. It will then fall below flood stage just after 
  midnight tonight.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...Flooding of pasture lands in the area 
  occurs and cattle and farm equipment should be moved to higher 
  ground if higher stages are forecast.


Another statement will be issued by Wednesday afternoon, or sooner 
if conditions warrant.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has 
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next 
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may 
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
