Expires:No;;595300 FGUS85 KRIW 170243 RVSRIW 171442- Hydrologic Statement National Weather Service Riverton WY 843 PM MDT Mon Jul 16 2018 ...Rapid Rises Expected on the Middle Fork Powder River through Kaycee Monday Night and Early Tuesday Morning... .Hydrologic summary: Doppler radar estimated two to three inches of rain fell late Monday afternoon in at least two large basins feeding the Middle Fork Powder River west of Kaycee. This rainfall has produced rapid rises on the Middle Fork Powder River and its tributaries Monday evening. At 8 PM MDT, a river gauge on the Middle Fork Powder River between Barnum and Kaycee indicated a rise of nearly three feet in about one hour. The water did begin to recede slightly after the crest, but the river was still running high. The crest fell about three-quarters of a foot below flood stage. This gauge was upstream of Red Fork which was reported to have risen one to two feet late Monday afternoon. The combined flows and additional runoff from smaller tributaries will cause the Middle Fork Powder River to rise rapidly at Kaycee between 2 AM and 6 AM MDT Tuesday. This wave of high water will continue toward Sussex on Tuesday reaching the State Highway 192 bridge around mid-afternoon. The river is expected to stay below bankfull, but residents along the river should be prepared for the higher water levels. Move to higher ground when necessary. $$ CNJ
