Significant rises are expected on the following rivers:

For the Marmaton River at Fort Scott.  Flood stage is 38.0 feet. The 
latest stage was 35.6 feet at 2 PM Thursday. The river may rise to 
near 37.8 feet by 6 PM Thursday. 

For the Jacks Fork at Alley Spring.  Flood stage is 9.0 feet. The 
latest stage was 3.8 feet at 1 PM Thursday. The river may rise to 
near 5.7 feet by 12 PM Friday. 

For the Jacks Fork  at Eminence.  Flood stage is 12.0 feet. The 
latest stage was 5.0 feet at 1 PM Thursday. The river may rise to 
near 5.8 feet by 12 PM Friday. 

For the Shoal Creek near Joplin.  Flood stage is 11.5 feet. The 
latest stage was 8.0 feet at 1 PM Thursday. The river may rise to 
near 10.6 feet by 6 PM Friday. 

For the Current River near Powder Mill.  Flood stage is 8.0 feet. The
latest stage was 4.4 feet at 1 PM Thursday. The river may rise to 
near 4.2 feet by 6 PM Friday. 

Do not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood 
fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may 
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will 
carry most vehicles away.
