...NUMEROUS RECORD LOW TEMPERATURES BROKEN THIS WEEKEND...

An arctic airmass brought brutally cold air to the region this 
weekend. Quite a few locations broke daily record low temperatures  
as a result. A couple of locations even broke all-time record
lows.

Below is a list of sites that established new record lows over the
weekend.

Zortman             -34             -24 in 1972
Wolf Point Airport  -37             -34 in 2005
Jordan Airport      -40             -38 in 2005

               New Record Low         Old Record
                  Jan 14th             date set
Saco 1NNW           -51             -42 in 1972

The -51 degree low at Saco 1NNW on the 14th set a new all-time
low temperature for the site. The old record was -50 set on January 
25, 1969

The -39 degrees low at St. Marie on the 13th also set a new all-
time low temperature for the site. The old record was -37 set on
February 28, 1962.
