No damage was found with the majority of these circulations, but a few sporadic locations exhibited signs of a broad damaging wind swath. A few power poles were laid down in the same direction just off W Union Road, colocated with a surge in KNQA radar velocity data around 1:00 AM CDT on May 9 in excess of 70 MPH at the lowest elevation tilt. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect during this time, and another Severe Thunderstorm Warning with a Considerable (70+ MPH) damage tag was issued for this area shortly after 1:00 AM CDT. The most significant damage was found north of Millington along the Shelby-Tipton County line. A few trees were uprooted north of Rosemark along Deadfall Road and Macedonia Road. Maximum wind speeds within these swaths of damaging winds were estimated to be 70-80 MPH. Otherwise, very few trees showed any signs of damage other than a few large limbs broken intermittently throughout northern Shelby County. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ AJC/CAD/TAB
