AWUS83 KLMK 012132 RWSKY Skies were mostly cloudy overnight as a cold front approached our region. Brisk southerly winds ahead of the front caused temperatures to climb into the 50s by sunrise. The front crossed the area this afternoon. As the front passed, a brief period of showers was observed but little accumulation was reported. Behind the front, winds swung westerly and became strong. Many locations reported gusts exceeding 40 MPH. The temperatures fell and by late afternoon readings were in the 40s. Tonight, colder air will move into the Ohio Valley dropping the temperatures into the 20s. Winds will drop back but still hang around 15 mph. Monday will be cold and snow showers will develop during the afternoon in the east. Look for highs only reaching the low to mid 30s, a 20 degree drop from the highs of recent days. With the brisk winds, windchill values will be in the teens.
