FGAK77 PAJK 152223 ESFAJK AKZ318>330-332-162145- Hydrologic Outlook National Weather Service Juneau AK 223 PM AKDT Sun Oct 15 2023 ...WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAIN TO IMPACT PANHANDLE TUESDAY TO THURSDAY... Ex Typhoon Bolaven will move into the Gulf of Alaska Tuesday morning, bringing widespread heavy rain with strong to high winds Tuesday afternoon through Thursday. While confidence on the exact track and extent of the extratropical cyclone remains below average, confidence of anomalously high precipitation and strong winds impacting the Panhandle is high. Main threats to the region include a rise in rivers, streams, and creeks beginning Tuesday night into Friday morning as the long duration rainfall event moves over Southeast Alaska. Strong winds from this storm combined with saturated soils will also bring concerns for tree falls, mainly along river banks at this time. Care should be taken now to test bilge pumps and make vessels ready for long periods of heavy rain. This is a evolving and changing situation.
