Waves of rainfall will impact Middle Tennessee this week. Some of the rain will be moderate to heavy at times. Rainfall totals through the week are expected to range from 2 to 5 inches. Soils and drainages will be able to handle much of this water, but localized flooding will be a concern during the episodes of heavier rainfall. The first threat for localized flooding will start tonight into early Tuesday for areas south of I-40, especially near the Alabama border. Local flooding of roads, small creeks, and low lying areas will be the main concern. Since flooding is only expected to be localized, no flood watches will be issued at this time. Looking ahead through the week, the concern for localized flooding will expand northward to cover the entire Mid State. Depending on how much rain falls over the next couple of days, and updated forecasts for later in the week, flood watches may eventually be needed. Please monitor updated forecasts and be alert for any flood watches or warnings that may be issued through this week, especially if you live in an area susceptible to flooding. $$ 13
