FPBA31 MYNN 262213 262213 MYNNYM BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST THE BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW, FRIDAY 26TH JULY 2024 GENERAL SITUATION: The northern extent of a tropical wave will continue to interact with a broad upper level low meandering over the Bahamas. This combination will allow for bouts of heavy showers and intense thunderstorms to affect portions of the northern and central islands overnight into early Saturday as the wave continues on its westward track… A dense plume of Saharan dust embedded within a deep ridging pattern will allow for more stable weather conditions with reduced air quality across the southern islands beginning tonight and continuing into the weekend. WARNINGS: A heat advisory remains in effect. Residents are asked to keep abreast of severe weather issuances throughout the period. Beachgoers visiting beaches in the Southeast Bahamas should exercise extreme caution due to the moderate risk of rip currents affecting eastern and southern shorelines. Residents should expect some flooding during heavy and prolonged rainfall events, and should exercise caution while traversing roadways. Finally, due to the presence of Saharan Dust in the Southeast Bahamas, those especially sensitive to airborne particles should take the necessary precautions. (Please view our products on our Bahamas Meteorology Facebook Page or our website, met.gov.bs). ADVISORY: Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms. WINDS: East-southeast to south-southeast at 10 to 15 knots, occasionally falling light and variable at times.
