...National Weather Service Announces Changes in River Forecast
Services for the Tallahala Creek near Runnelstown, MS...

Effective at 1200 UTC on June 3, 2024, the National Weather 
Service (NWS) Mobile/Pensacola will cease river flood forecasts 
and warning services for the Tallahala Creek near Runnelstown, MS,
due to a loss in observation data. The USGS was forced to remove 
the river gauge on the Tallahala Creek near Runnelstown due to a 
loss of funding. Real-time streamflow data is essential to the 
issuance of accurate river, flood stage, and water supply 
forecasts that are issued by the NWS. The absence of the river 
gauge information necessitated the termination of all river 
forecasts for the Tallahala Creek near Runnelstown. The NWS will 
continue to issue general Flood and Flash Flood Warnings as 
warranted for streams and rivers without gauges.
