...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Nebraska, including the following 
  county, Red Willow.

* WHEN...Until 1030 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 858 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in
    the warned area due to thunderstorms has allowed flooding to
    occur. Reports of streets in McCook flooded along with some
    basements. Barnet Park is closed as well. Between 1.5 and 3
    inches of rain have fallen.  DO NOT DRIVE AROUND FLOODED
    AREAS UNTIL FLOODING HAS RECEDED.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Drainage to Republican Rvr, West Kelley Creek, Brushy Creek,
    Dry Creek and Republican River.
    Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible
    in the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    McCook.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
