The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  East Central San Mateo County in northern California...
  Northwestern Santa Clara County in northern California...

* Until 615 AM PST.

* At 311 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.2 and 1 inch of rain
  has fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  San Jose, Fremont, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Mountain View, Milpitas,
  Palo Alto, Cupertino, Campbell, Menlo Park, Saratoga, Los Gatos,
  Los Altos, East Palo Alto, Los Altos Hills, Woodside, Fruitdale,
  Buena Vista, Sunol-Midtown and Rancho Rinconada Cdp.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
