...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR MENARD...

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM CST THIS 
AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHEASTERN CONCHO, WEST CENTRAL MCCULLOCH AND 
CENTRAL MENARD COUNTIES...

At 251 PM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 6 
and 9 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 
to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is 
already occurring. In addition, local emergency management reported 
that water was entering homes in the Harris Hollow section of town.

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Menard. This is a PARTICULARLY 
DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER
         GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water
         crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Menard and The Intersection Of Us-83 And Highway 29.

This includes the following Low Water Crossings...
Decker St. crossing San Saba River, County Road 128 crossing Reubes 
Creek, County Road 126 crossing Saddle Creek, County Road 124 
crossing Saddle Creek, Ranch Road 2291 crossing Las Moras Creek and 
Callan Lane crossing. Five-Mile Crossing at Farm to Market 2092

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. 
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a 
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
