The following message is transmitted at the request of the Taos
Avalanche Center.

The Taos Avalanche Center in Taos has issued a Backcountry
Avalanche Watch.

* WHAT...Expect rapidly changing and increasing avalanche danger
  on Friday, February 14th where the avalanche danger is expected
  to reach High. An Atmospheric River Event is forecasted to bring
  significant snow and strong winds to our mountains overnight
  Thursday through Friday, with 2 feet of snow and strong winds. 

* WHERE...Wheeler Peak Wilderness Area and Columbine Hondo
  Wilderness above 9000 feet.

* WHEN... In effect from Wednesday 17:00 MST to Friday 04:00 MST.

* IMPACTS...Heavy snow combined with strong wind will likely
  create widespread areas of unstable snow. 

* PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Very dangerous avalanche
  conditions are expected to develop quickly early Friday,
  February 14th. This Avalanche Watch is scheduled to expire at
  04:00 on February 14th. Check back with the Taos Avalanche
  Center Friday morning to see if we extend or upgrade to an
  Avalanche Warning.
