...The Forest Service Sawtooth Avalanche Center in Ketchum has
ISSUED an AVALANCHE WATCH which is in effect now through Thursday
4 AM MST...

* WHAT...Heavy snowfall and wind will create very dangerous 
  avalanche conditions by Thursday morning. Backcountry AVALANCHE 
  WARNINGS may be issued.

* WHERE...The Smoky, Soldier, Boulder, and Pioneer Mountains,
  including the mountains near Smiley Creek, Galena Summit, Trail
  Creek Summit, Ketchum, Hailey, Bellevue, Carey, and Fairfield.
  The backcountry AVALANCHE WATCH does not apply to highway 
  avalanche programs or operating skis areas.

* WHEN...In effect now through Thursday 4 AM MST.

* IMPACTS...Large, natural and human-triggered avalanches will
  become near certain as heavy snowfall and wind overload a weak,
  unstable snowpack. Avalanches may strike roadways and trails in
  the valley bottoms.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Stay off of and 
out from below steep slopes-slopes steeper than about 30 degrees.
Avalanches may be triggered remotely-from flat terrain above, 
below, and to the sides of steep slopes. Natural and human- 
triggered avalanches may run long distances and can impact roads, 
trails, and structures on valley bottoms and gentler terrain below
steep slopes.
