Tropical Depression 17W is currently located near 4.5 degrees North and 140.5 degrees East. 17W is moving southward but is expected to gradually make a turn toward the west with a decrease in forward speed through Wednesday. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides information and recommended actions for people on Yap and Ngulu in Yap State, and Koror and Kayangel in the Republic of Palau. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... The Tropical Storm Watch is no longer in effect for Yap and Ngulu in Yap State and Kayangel and Koror in the Republic of Palau. .STORM INFORMATION... AT 7 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Depression 17W was located near Latitude 4.5 degrees North and Longitude 140.5 degrees East. This was located about 380 miles south of Yap and 455 miles east of Koror. Current motion was south-southeast at 16 mph. Current intensity was 25 mph. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... The Tropical Storm Watch is no longer in effect for Yap and Ngulu in Yap State and Kayangel and Koror in the Republic of Palau. TD 17W is currently moving southward but should resume a westward movement later today. The latest model data shows the remains of Tropical Depression 17W eventually moving west, passing near the main island of Babulthuap in Palau sometime on Thursday. 17W is expected to remain weak with littleto no intensification. .NEXT UPDATE...
